Case Study: Oilfield Camp
At the end of 2014 one of the world’s largest construction companies was awarded an $80m contract to construct the marine infrastructure works for phase 3 of the Al-Dabbiya oil field development by Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO).
Expected to be completed by September 2015, the work involved the construction of five offshore clusters which includes channel dredging, reclamation works, construction of a causeway, shore protection, heliport, pontoons and fences.
To help them implement this project they required a 300 man camp to be created about 50km south of Abu Dhabi. Impressed by Byrne's proposal for a high quality camp complete with onsite personnel (plumbers, electricians, and mechanics) the customer appointed us as their welfare provider.
We supplied all of the temporary accommodation which included single man en-suite units that were delivered to higher specifications for senior staff, two man units and four man units. In addition we delivered:
- Ablution / Shower Units
- Gym
- Guard House
- Kitchens
- Laundry Rooms
- Offices
- Prayer Rooms
- Recreation Rooms
We provided the power to the site with 3 x 1000 kVA generators (prime) and another 1000 kVA on standby.
Byrne also supplied three offshore satellite locations with offices, ablution facilities and mess unit.
