Byrne increasing its market share year-on-year
Byrne Equipment Rental, the largest equipment rental and lease organisation in the region, has, despite the downturn in the overall market in recent years, been increasing its market share year-on-year.
"We have done this by being highly revenue driven and client-focused in addition to adapting our product lines with our clients requirements," says Stuart Neilson, Regional General Manager, Byrne Investment Saudi Arabia Co Ltd.
Referring to the company’s prospects in Saudi Arabia, where it is already present in Jubail, Yanbu, Jizan, Jeddah, Riyadh, Turaif, and Dammam, Neilson says: "We are extremely confident of the future in Saudi Arabia. Major projects are going ahead, we have long-established relationships with key clients, we are financially sound and we have a market-leading reputation."
Byrne’s clients value suppliers who consistently provide around the clock service, competitive rates, a comprehensive range of equipment and associated services, and geographical cover all throughout Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC Region, he explains.
By continuing to invest in broadening both its product range and scope of activities while opening new branches to support the kingdom’s major projects, Byrne expects to significantly increase market share and continue to be regarded as the equipment rental supplier of choice.
Neilson points out that clients in Jubail and Yanbu are increasingly consolidating their works packages into a limited number of main contracts. This means that companies who are to remain relevant need to expand their scope of activities and their resources and capabilities. Byrne Equipment Rental is following this trend by increasing not just its scope of equipment, but by diversifying its services into industrial maintenance services.
As the most diverse supplier of rental equipment across the GCC, Byrne Equipment Rental has over 500 employees in Saudi Arabia, located in over six branches across the country. It has over 5,000 pieces of equipment to meet the needs of its clients across multiple sectors including Oil and Gas, Construction and Infrastructure, Events, Manufacturing and Logistics, Retail and Commercial, Marine and Ports, Defence, Military and Medical.
Currently, there are a number of major projects in early stages of development in the East, Central and Western regions of the country and Byrne Equipment Rental is positioning itself to support its clients working on them.
On Saudi Vision 2030, he says Byrne is committed to Vision 2030 and is focusing on a range of initiatives to support it including extensive recruitment and training of Saudi nationals and procurement from local suppliers.
"We are engaged with our OEMs in establishing equipment manufacturing and assembly facilities in Saudi Arabia which is going to be a key part of making Vision 2030 and IKTVA a success."
Neilson says that as part of the company strategy to grow its product range and activities to support its clients, Byrne is in the process of diversifying into climate control, oil and gas equipment as well as industrial services.
Byrne’s new Climate Control Division will be introducing a wide range of equipment including split and package air conditioning units, chillers, air-handlers, cooling towers, dehumidifiers, heaters and ventilation equipment. The division will specialise in three main areas; Spot Cooling, Comfort Cooling and Process Cooling and will service a multitude of sectors such as Oil and Gas, Events and Retail and Commercial.
"We already have long-standing relationships with many key clients who utilise Climate Control package units. We have commitments in place to launch our new Climate Control equipment with them and it will be from this platform that we have a wider product launch into new clients in similar segments as well as in new segments and new geographies," he says.
In order to bring sustainable solutions to the Saudi market, Byrne has over the last 18 months, been developing a single hybrid product for the market, with specialised batteries, bespoke rectifiers, coupled with a 1,000-hour service interval engine which requires less maintenance. "We underpin this with a dedicated management system to get the most out of the solution, which we have recently launched into the market," he reveals.
Byrne Equipment Rental’s value proposition is focused on providing its clients with a "one-stop shop" for all their industrial equipment rental needs, he maintains.
This includes Power Generation, Hoist and Access, Sanitation, Material Handling, Temporary Buildings, Mobile Lighting, Air and Steam, Cargo Containers and Welding Equipment.
