A leading construction company required a sustainable and highly efficient power solution to operate two tower cranes at a major project site. Byrne was engaged to deliver a cleaner, smarter alternative that could ensure uninterrupted crane operations while significantly reducing fuel consumption and operating costs, aligned with the client’s sustainability goals.
The project presented several operational challenges including high peak load requirements from two tower cranes which demanded a reliable power strategy capable of managing heavy lifting cycles. The client required a sustainable solution that would maintain uninterrupted crane operation while reducing dependency on generator runtime. The solution needed to be fully configured, monitored, and optimised over long-term deployment to ensure consistent performance over 24 months.
Byrne delivered a hybrid BESS + generator power package specifically engineered for tower crane applications:
BESS Installation
Deployment: Deployed 2× Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), each rated at 215 kW output and 215 kWh storage capacity
Generator Installation: Installed 1× 200 kVA generator dedicated to charging both BESS units, replacing the traditional requirement for two 350 kVA generators.
